CHOCTAW:  Nuts are very large & rich in flavor.  The tree comes into production early; bears heavy crops & very disease resistant.  A cross between Success & Mahan & well adapted to most pecan growing areas.

 

MOHAWK:  This new variety is a vigorous grower; nuts are large, full & thin shelled.  It matures early & appears to be excellent for yard plantings.

 

KIOWA:  Nuts are large, oblong, needing 40 to 50 to make a pound.  Bears early & is a cross between Mahan & Odom.

 

WICHITA:  A Mahan-Halbert cross, it has medium-size nuts & a heavy bearer at an early age.  Recommended for Western areas.

 

SIOUX:  A result of a cross between the Schley & Carmichael varieties.  The shells are thin & the kernels smooth & bright with high oil content & excellent flavor.

 

CHEYENNE:  Nuts are medium in size & takes 55 to 60 for a pound.  With a 57-60% kernel it bears heavy & early, does well in most regions.

 

PAWNEE:  A Mohawk-Starking Hardy cross this is a large nut with high kernel percentage.  It's protandrous & scab resistant.

 

MELROSE:  Originated in Louisiana it has medium size pecans (45-50 nuts / pound).  Is scab resistant.

 

STUART:  A good sized, well filled nut of excellent quality with very thin shell.  Strong, vigorous tree & extremely hardy.

 

SUCCESS:  A heavy bearer, large, oblong nut with thin shell.  One of the best Eastern varieties.

 

MAHAN:  Largest of all papershells with richly flavored kernel.  Tree is vigorous, bears young & makes a great shade tree.

 

DESIRABLE:  A large, wel-filled good quality nuts.  It is disease resistant variety, early & prolific bearer.

 

CAPE FEAR:  It bears heavy crops at an early age & scab resistant.  Best for Southeastern states with 55-60 nuts/pound.

 

SUMNER:  Large, early bearing & good quality nuts that is suited for close space planting.

 

CANDY:  A medium-size nut that ripens early; is consistent & heavy bearer.

 

BURKETT:  This one fills out well, has good flavor & medium to large round nuts.  A very prolific tree.

 

WESTERN SCHLEY:  A large, high quality nut with a sweet, rich flavor.  Cracks easily & a vigorous tree.

 TEXAS MISSION:  Small sized, semi-hard nut.  Kernel is short, plump & sweet; ripens late.  Tree is a regular & heavy producer.  Plant two varieties for pollinization.

 

NONPAREIL:  Excellent quality, medium size nut with outstanding flavor.  Paper thin shell.  Very popular variety.  Plant two for pollination.

 

HALL'S HARDY:  A majestic hardwood shade tree & tasty fruit.  A late bloomer & moderate bearing.  Partly self-fruitful & produces good quality with flavorful kernel late in the season.
